Adding more than a tear drop of water to neat Whisky is sacrilege in my book.

Unless of course you are adding Cola as well in which case use a Havana Rum.

The thing about whisky, which it shares with most other alcoholic beverages, is that it improves the more you have of it. So you only need the good stuff for the first glass. After that, the quality really doesn't matter.

Glenn

Any distillery worth visiting is going to have decent whisky.

If anyone knows of any good distilleries to visit in Scotland I am up there soon and will be buying a few bottles to bring back.

And a “ Rusty nail” is Scotch mixed with Drambuie.

Re: Whiskey
I bought a bottle of John y walker blue label, drank it on my 50th, that’s pretty smooth!

If I’m gonna tie one on I’ll have shots of wild turkey 101

But Jameson’s on the rocks is what I drink regularly.

Re: Whiskey
Easthammer, I’d be interested to hear what you think of that Nikka whisky, I should try it really.

I opened the Nikka Days at half-time in the England v Czech game. As others have said it really is good for a blended Whisky, very smooth. Although I think I still prefer the depth of flavour in some single malts which often less expensive than the Nikka Days.

Mind you as good as it was it didn't make the second half a better watch :)

Yeah Don Papa is a lovely tipple. Try a Dzama or Plantation rum.

Whisky is bit last millenium.

I've never got into Whiskey. Have tried a few

Always preferred rum and cognac. I saw a few people mention Mount Gay, lovely drop. Currently drinking Dom Papa rum. Great drop from the Philippines, also drinking Hine Rare cognac at the moment.

One of my best mates from school started a Whiskey distillery in Australia, surprisingly good.

Re: Whiskey
Drambuie is neither a Scotch nor a whisky. It's a liquor, sipped by women and poofs.

Re: Whiskey
Recommend Drambuie.

By recommend i mean recommend with care.

Its so sweet that its important to remember its 40%, and a whisky.

Very easy to drink too much too quickly and pay heavily over the next 1-2 days.

Tastes lovely though, like drinking honey flavoured water

Re: Whiskey
Nikka Days is lovely.

A lot of the aged Japanese releases is being discontinued and replaced with No Age Statement (NAS) releases instead.

Can highly recommend Nikka’s Taketsuru Pure Malt - they only do a NAS release now, the aged one’s, if you can find one, go for serious money.

Suntory’s Yamazaki NAS is very nice too. The 12 year old is frequently voted best whisky in the world by the experts - it’s amazing. Unfortunately, again going up in price - You’ll struggle to find it under £130 for a bottle now. Worth it if you’re feeling flush

"Mount Gay Eclipse rum from Barbados is a very fine dark rum. White Oak from Trinidad as a white rum pisses all over Bacardi."

Indeed. Mount Gay is a great tipple. My mate has a bar in Brussels The Dzama cafe which specialises in Dzama rums from Madagascar. Worth a try.

Sorry to crash the Whiskey thread.

Most recently I had a bottle of Ailsa Bay.
